Edmonton: New MHC Devotional Group

MHC Devotional Group In Edmonton, AB

By Angelina Cook and Lita Recto

(Edmonton, AB – October 8) – Under the guidance of Fr. Sagayaraj Devadoss, SDB, the Mary Help of Christians (MHC) Devotional Group was inaugurated on Saturday, September 25. The day commenced with the Rosary followed by Holy Mass and the first group meeting to review the activities the group will accomplish from September 2021 to September 2022. The activities will include prayers through the Rosary and Novenas, attendance at Mass, confession, and receiving the Eucharist. We will assist other parish ministries, charities, and youth and senior groups in whatever is required. This includes fundraising, feeding the homeless, offering rides to seniors, and raising the awareness of “safe houses” run by Catholic Social Services in Edmonton for children ages nine to 16 rescued from the streets.

The group of 26 members was formed through personal dedication and devotion to our Blessed Mother. We wanted to share this devotion with all in and outside our parish. Through the assistance from Sr. Denise Sickinger, FMA and Fr. Thomas Dunne, SDB, our group had a much better understanding of ADMA, which we hope to officially join in the near future.

We (the MHC Group) will continue St. John Bosco’s legacy to live our daily lives imitating Mary and placing ourselves as her children under her mantle by following simple paths of Christian formation, prayer, apostolate, and service. There will be no “age limits nor life barriers” that will deter our group from accomplishing ADMA’s vision of being “a Light to the World” by spreading grace, bearing witness, and entrusting our lives to Jesus through Mary.
