Edmonton: Birth of St. Joseph Sodality

St. Joseph Sodality in Edmonton

By Fr. Sagayaraj Devadoss, SDB

(Edmonton, AB – July 5) – Devotion to St. Joseph is not anything new to St. Dominic Savio Parish in Edmonton. However, the Year of St. Joseph invites us to make it extraordinary and more meaningful. Moreover, Pope Francis and the Bishops of Canada highly recommend it. All this resulted in the birth of a beautiful group named St. Joseph Sodality at St. Dominic Savio Parish. It was officially created on Saturday, May 1, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. On Thursday, July 1, the 21 member Sodality, alongside all of Catholic Canada, consecrated itself at a special Holy Mass in its parish church. Its main aim is to grow in holiness through devotion to St. Joseph. This translates into celebrating moments of group prayer, placing oneself at the service of one's family and parish, and reaching out to others in need by helping and promoting their devotion to St. Joseph.
