East Boston: Torch Club Gives Back

Torch Club Community Service

(East Boston, MA – November 14) – Members of the Torch Club of the Salesian Boys & Girls Club of East Boston, a service and leadership development program for 10-13-year-old members directed by Fr. Bill Bucciferro, youth minister, chose the Pine Street Inn as their community service project during the Thanksgiving season. The Pine Street Inn, located in Boston, was established in 1969 and provides a comprehensive range of services to nearly 2,000 homeless men and women each day. They are the largest homeless services provider in New England. The Pine Street Inn serves 80 pounds of cereal at breakfast each morning, and the Torch Club members are helping by collecting contributions of cereal, tea, and other non-perishable breakfast items. The members will deliver their donations during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, November 17-23.
