East Boston: Season of Creation at Salesian Boys & Girls Club

East Boston Season Of Creation

By Br. Bob Metell, SDB

(East Boston, MA – September 26) – The Salesian Boys & Girls Club of East Boston initiated a "Green Club House" recycling program as part of its ongoing youth ministry plan for the 2022-2023 club year project. The program was in place before the Covid-19 pandemic shut the club program down for a year or so. Last year, the youth ministry team elected to start it up again. The kitchen staff has a recycling bin to hold used cans and bottles from club members. The chef also breaks down boxes into recycling bins, along with cans and bottles.

Over the summer, the campers participated in a "Clean and Green Day," where they picked up cans, paper, and bottles in a recycling bin. That project included weeding and riding up the area around Don Bosco's statue. These "Clean and Green Days" are not a single summer camp event, but a year-long project.
