East Boston: Ash Wednesday and Winter Break

East Boston: Ash Wednesday

By Br. Bob Metell, SDB

(East Boston, MA – February 27)
– On Wednesday, February 14, the Salesian Boys & Girls Club celebrated Ash Wednesday with a brief service by Fr. Bill Bucciferro. In his lesson, Fr. Bill spoke about the importance of prayer, fasting, and service. He used St. Valentine as an example and role model of someone who practiced the virtue of charity to help others in need. St. Valentine made the ultimate sacrifice to help others—he gave his life. After the service, Fr. Bill and Fr. Ken Rodes distributed ashes to the club members, staff, and parents.

From Tuesday, February 20, through Friday, February 23, the Boston Public Schools went on winter break. During the week, the Club offered a winter vacation camp. Stay tuned for updates about our various activities and events over the school break.
