CYMs Gather for Annual Meeting

CYM Meeting 2022

By Julia St. Clair, Province Communications Director

(New Rochelle, NY – November 8) – The annual Coordinators of Youth Ministry (CYM) Meeting took place last week at the Marian Shrine in Stony Point, NY. Twenty-one Salesian Family members—including 11 CYMs; the province offices of youth and young adults, communications, and volunteering; and four presenters— attended this year's meeting.

The days of community and togetherness began on Tuesday, November 2, with airport pickups, tech set-up, and dinner by the province office of youth and young adult ministry. The following day served as a retreat day led by Province Delegate of Youth Ministry Fr. Lou Molinelli, SDB. Fr. Tom Dunne, SDB, and I journeyed to Stony Point the following day to present on the curriculum for catechesis and how to deal with stress and avoid burnout.

The final day focused on skills for team ministry. Sr. Katie Flanagan, FMA, and Ms. Milagros "Milly" Beltran from Immaculata-La Salle High School in Miami, FL presented via Zoom, while Mariel Cabrera and Vicky Weekley gave their talks in person. The meetings ended with team ministry sessions, an open forum on any ministry questions or needs, Mass, and dinner.

Overall, this year's CYM Meeting served as a beautiful opportunity for Salesian Family throughout the province to come together and reflect on the mission. Please pray for all CYMs and young people!
