Continuing to Pray and Honor the Life of George Janvier

Remembering George March 2021 Website

By Amy Marinaro

On February 23, to honor and remember the two-month passing of Mr. George Janvier, who was the CYM of Salesian High School, the Salesian Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry collaborated with the Salesian High School community to virtually pray the Rosary. The evening of prayer was proposed by Isa Conejo, an alumna of St. John Neumann High School, who emphasized the importance of continuing to pray for our deceased loved ones. Over 40 young adults and adults from across the country (both from our province and the FMA province) prayed for the eternal rest of Mr. Janvier and for the continued consolation of his family and friends.

The evening ended with the prayer of St. Joseph, as we honor him this liturgical year. Before praying this final prayer, Ms. Victoria Weekley of the OYM noted the fitting comparison of the fatherhood of St. Joseph and the fatherhood of Mr. Janvier, who was a father both to his own children and to all those young people that he met. She also noted that Mr. Janvier always invited young people to speak to Jesus, especially at Mass, and by praying for his eternal rest, each of us is continuing to respond to Mr. Janvier’s invitation of meeting Jesus in prayer.
