On Ascension Sunday, May 29, and the 56th World Communications Day, Pope Francis announced the convocation of the concistory on Saturday, August 27 for the creation of the 21 new cardinals. Two Salesians are on the list of the newly announced—Bp. Virgilio Do Carmo Da Silva, SDB, Archbishop of Dili (East Timor), and Bp. Lucas "Luc" Van Looy, SDB, Emeritus Archbishop of Ghent (Belgium). Bp. Luc visited the province in 2006 and 2011.
The SUE Province congratulates both cardinals-elect on this wonderful next step in their Salesian vocation!
