CMA Hosts First Hybrid Conference

Catholic Media Conference 2022

By Julia St. Clair, Province Communications Coordinator

(New Rochelle, NY – July 13) – The Catholic Media Association (CMA) held its annual conference in Portland, OR. It was its first hybrid conference and marked the first time the conference gathered in person since 2019. It took place from Monday, July 4, through Thursday, July 7, at the Hilton Portland Downtown. Over 220 Catholic journalists, writers, editors, and communicators journeyed to participate in person as attendees and presenters, while over 200 individuals tuned in virtually. Various sessions were offered on topics in business, editorial, communication, and digital media. This year, the CMA also offered a two-part session on burnout and a mini-retreat.

Overall, the Catholic Media Conference was a great success. Additionally, the CMA has expressed interest in continuing to offer the hybrid model for future conferences. One slogan of the city that hosted this year's conference is, "for you a rose in Portland grows." Indeed, a rose of unity blossomed amongst everyone throughout the week.
