(New Rochelle, NY – October 11) – On Sunday, October 9, St. Artemides Zatti was proclaimed a saint in Rome. Members of the Salesian Family were able to attend the ceremony in person and later went off to Turin.
As Pope Francis remarked during his homily, "Salesian Brother Artemide Zatti was a living example of gratitude: healed of tuberculosis, he dedicated his whole life to gratifying others, to caring for the sick with love and tenderness. It is said that he was seen carrying the dead body of one of his sick people on his shoulders. Full of gratitude for what he had received, he wanted to say his 'thank you' by taking on the wounds of others." Together united in Christ, we thank God for St. Artemides Zatti and strive to follow his example of selfless love. Like St. Artemides Zatti, we, too, pray to follow the spirit of St. John Bosco and work untiringly for the good of others.
