Canada: Good News from Up North

Good News From Canada

By Fr. Luc P. Lantagne, SDB

(Montréal, QC – June 21) – As of today, 72 percent of all Canadians have received their first dose (including the Great North) and 20 percent have been fully vaccinated. Some restrictions are therefore being lifted slowly; the traffic is now moving well between Ontario and Quebec, but we still can't travel eastward (the Maritimes) or south (the US). Our common border is still closed to non-essential travels till Wednesday, July 21, then we'll see!

We'll also be able to have a Summer Happy Days Camp with protocols in place, starting Monday, July 5 up to Friday, August 13, with a limited number of campers (around 250 instead of our usual 600). We're now in the pre-camp mode, which includes setting up (mostly outside), animators' formation moments, and coordinators' intense preparation. Since our SDB brothers in formation could not come across the border this year, Fr. Richard Authier will assume, with help, the various "Faith Space" moments with the different groups throughout the weeks, and Fr. Tito Iannaccio will accompany our first-time Latino animators. Please keep us in your brotherly thoughts and diligent prayers.
