The Association of the Salesian Schools of the Americas

SYM Corner 03.03.22

By Fr. Louis Molinelli, SDB Province Delegate for Youth Ministry

Last week, I had the opportunity to be virtually present at the meeting of the Association of the Salesian Schools of the Americas. This organization is made up of Salesians of Don Bosco, Salesian Sisters, Salesian Cooperators, and Salesian lay collaborators for the purpose of ensuring the quality of our Salesian schools in the various countries we are in on the American continents. The opportunity to share the great things that are happening in our schools along with the challenges we have had over these past few years united us together to see our common mission of raising honest citizens and upright Christians among the young.

This association has a strategic plan that all Salesian schools are working on for our growth as quality Catholic schools. I want to present you with the four elements of the plan today and then write about each element in the upcoming weeks. Here is the plan:

  1. Give attention to the educative needs of the students in Salesian
  2. Give attention to the individual needs of our students through a renewed vision of Don Bosco’s Preventive System.
  3. Have ongoing integral formation of all who come together in the educative and pastoral community of the Salesian schools (Salesians of Don Bosco, Salesian Sisters, Salesian Family, parents, lay people in our area, and the young).
  4. Develop a collaborative mission to the young that is based on strong communication, co- responsibility, and leadership formation in the Salesian charism.

Each one of these elements comes with a set of goals and objectives for each Salesian province to work on in the schools. This is truly a Salesian Family initiative and involves strong bonds of professionalism and collaboration between all branches of the Salesian Family. I look forward to sharing each element with you in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned!
